Kathleen Caricof has focused on designing visual projects that capture and communicate the essence of distinct spaces. Whether architectural or environmental, she approaches each design with purposeful intent, choosing elements and materials that best fit the space, and working in harmony within the larger context of a project.

After studying Industrial Industrial Design at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, under Buckminster Fuller, Kathleen began working with visionary corporations including PPG Glass, Texas Instruments. Specializing in sculpture was a lucky coincidence. After designing a nine-piece commemorative sculpture for the Beta West/US West merger, she began to explore the limitless possibilities of materials and forms that sculpture offers.

The early part of her independent career as a professional sculptor began with marble, limestone, and fiberglass projects ranging from small-scale stone carvings to large stone sculptures and reliefs. Many were created as commissions for individuals; others for sale in galleries in Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, and Wisconsin; some for public spaces including the University of Denver and Bloomfield Colorado Community Center. For over 20 years Caricof has carved with sculptors from around the world as a founding instructor at the Marble/Marble Institute of Colorado. She also teaches at the Art Students League in Denver. Since 1996 she has been a member of the National Sculptors’ Guild.

The ultimate goal of Caricof Design is to create sculpture that engages with individuals and communities to celebrate beauty, connection, and honor the people and events that shaped our lives.
